Terms and Conditions of Use

Hello there!

This summarises what you should abide by and expect as a student and tutor on TST. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and it will be constantly updated to match changes on the website. If in doubt, please check this page or shoot us a message, and we will reply ASAP.

Signing up to the website

When you sign up to the website, your username, password and email will be stored in a safe database and only used by admins of the website. Your data is safe and will not be sold or used for any other purposes without your permission. When you sign up to the website, you are automatically a student applying to become a tutor.

You are automatically added to the TST newsletter list when you sign up for the website to receive updates! If you would like to unsubscribe, you can do that by unsubscribing through the first email you receive,

Becoming a tutor

When you apply to become a tutor, you have to apply and go through a selection process to ensure you are suited for the role. Your account will be transformed into a tutor account when the process is complete, but that does not mean you cannot be a student yourself! The process is outlined in a guide which you are directed to when you apply!

Booking and cancelling lessons (for students)

Before you request a lesson, you are encouraged to communicate with the tutor, using the chat function to confirm a time and a date. Once confirmed and payed, your lesson is booked and you should try your best to attend. If you have an emergency and you cannot attend, please inform the tutor and cancel the lesson ASAP. In addition, you have to send an email to admin@thestudenttutor.com to ensure that a refund has been sent to the tutor.

For now, the lessons are being conducted for free, so this should not be an issue, but please do respect the tutors time as they will be super busy.

Booking and cancelling lessons (for tutors)

Once a student sends a request in for a lesson, you should confirm the date ASAP (if you can make it!) as you have a time window to do that. To do that, you choose the date you agreed upon with the student to attend to generate a Zoom link. You are advised to confirm at least 24 hours before the start of the lesson to ensure you have time to prepare for the lesson and can physically attend. After the student completes the payment, your lesson will be booked. If you cannot make it to a lesson, please do inform the student through the chat function and inform us through admin@thestudenttutor.com to ensure a full refund has been completed to the student. For now, the lessons are being conducted for free, so this should not be an issue, but please do respect the students time as they will be super busy as well!

Hope this helps,

Happy learning!
